带着某种怀旧感,大部分人记忆犹新的是,从经济腾飞的年代起,中国学校忽然都开始采取肥大、拖沓、大多蓝白相间的运动校服。创造出“校服”(制服英文为uniform)一词的日本在19世纪末引入西式校服,用深蓝色诘襟服和西式水手服替代和服正装、和服样式褶裙。流行文化杂志《知日》做了一期“制服特辑”,出版人苏静说,他们研究发现,日本在经济全盛时期的年代掀起了“校服革命”;年代,日本电影里常见的泡泡袜、超短裙和对襟毛衣标志着校服革命达到高潮。在日本女子校服三大“神器”盛行的同时,松垮的红白、蓝白、绿白运动装“面口袋”在中国校园大行其道。

校服没在中国引发消费革命和时尚革命,反倒更像一个隐秘的边缘生意,很少人知道这个行业产值近千亿人民币,也有着在海内外收入及创新模式表现不俗的“隐形冠军”。校服也是典型的监管与自由冲突的政治经济学题材,虽然并无大案暴露这个行业可能的腐败,但有些灰色地带似乎大家都心知肚明。

无论怎样,其最终受害的都是学生们。我国针对学生校服,教育部、工商总局、质检总局、国家标准委四个部门联合发布了《关于进一步加强中小学生校服管理工作的意见》,此文件指出:校服设计要注重校服面料、功能、式样的研发,要引导专业设计人员参与校服式样设计。校服式样设计要遵循学生成长规律,充分考虑学生体育运动与课间活动需要。此工作意见一经出台引起广泛
